The Sports Bra St. Louis Finds a Home in Maplewood

Heather Hill and Sara Pilsner to bring the world's

first women's sports bar to the heart of the St. Louis sports scene

PORTLAND, Ore. and ST. LOUIS (Oct. 14, 2025) The Sports Bra, the world’s first sports bar dedicated to exclusively showing women’s sports, is one step closer to opening its first franchise location in St. Louis. Today, The Sports Bra announced that franchise owners Heather Hill and Sara Pilsner have secured a location for The Sports Bra St. Louis at 7344 Manchester Road in Maplewood, Missouri. The new bar will bring The Sports Bra’s mission to support, empower, and promote women and girls in sports to the St. Louis community.

The St. Louis franchise, operating under the business entity PilsnerHill Group LLC, is owned by Heather Hill and Sara Pilsner, who met as kids playing on the same softball team. Heather Hill, who will serve as owner-operator, brings over two decades of experience in retail management and a decade in catering and hospitality to the new venture.

“St. Louis has a vibrant sports scene, but dedicated spaces that specifically center and celebrate women's sports are noticeably absent. Until now,” said Hill. “The Sports Bra will fill this void, offering a welcoming and inclusive environment for fans to gather and passionately support women athletes.”

One St. Louis native is also celebrating this announcement: Becky Sauerbrunn, former co-captain of the U.S. women's national soccer team and host of the just launched Teaming Up podcast, part of The Women's Game show. She said, "I'm so excited The Sports Bra is opening up in St. Louis, my hometown. It is a great soccer city and a wonderful sports city."

The Sports Bra St. Louis is excited to champion local teams, including the St. Louis SLAM (women’s football), Lou Fusz Athletic (WPSL), and the Arch Rival Roller Derby, in addition to showcasing national leagues like the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA), Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL), and Athletes Unlimited Softball League (AUSL). The new location will also highlight collegiate women’s teams from local universities like Saint Louis University, University of Missouri-St. Louis, and Washington University in St. Louis, not to mention our neighbors to the west, University of Missouri.

Jenny Nguyen, founder and CEO of The Sports Bra, said, "We are so excited that Heather and Sara have found the Maplewood location for The Sports Bra St. Louis. We look forward to supporting them as they leverage their shared history in sports and their deep commitment to community to lead our expansion into a city with such a rich sports culture. This is a great step forward for our 'Starting Five' and for the women's sports movement as a whole."

Since opening its inaugural restaurant in Portland, Oregon, in 2022, The Sports Bra has changed the channel on the traditional sports bar experience by only televising women’s sports. Now, thanks to inspiring women athletes, enthusiastic fans, and an ever-growing demand for inclusive spaces that support and celebrate women and girls in sports, The Sports Bra is expanding its impact to cities across the U.S. Other franchises are slated to open in Boston, Indianapolis, and Las Vegas.

As with the original Portland location, The Sports Bra St. Louis will be family friendly and feature a menu of delicious food and drinks, including vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, and dairy-free options, and will source products from local women-owned businesses whenever possible. The location totals 2,950 square feet, 1,800 of which will be dedicated to seating for up to 120 visitors indoors. There is some outdoor seating for about 30 people. Fans can look forward to special watch parties and events centered on supporting women and girls who love to play and watch women’s sports.

Hill added, "We can't wait to serve this community and cheer on our favorite teams together! We would open tomorrow if we could. For now we're working hard to get the space ready, and we hope to be able to welcome people inside by early 2026."
